Hello! My name is Jacob. I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and moved around a lot until I my family settled down in Southern California. I found my passion for storytelling when my parents gifted me a digital camera for my 10th birthday. And my Dad force-feeding me his favorite flicks until I could feed myself. From there, I honed my passion in filmmaking and screenwriting, and attended UC Santa Cruz to complete my Bachelor’s in Film and Digital Media. After studying abroad for a month in Italy, I became an intern at a Hollywood production company for a few months. They hired me as an office/creative assistant, where I also got the opportunity to be a production assistant for some of the projects the company were producing. This paved the way for my current graduate studies at Loyola Marymount University’s MFA Writing for the Screen Program. I aim to hone my craft and share my stories with the world as a writer/director.
Outside of film and media, I love music, sports, the outdoors, and being a part of my community. I produce music and play guitar and piano in my free time. Growing up, I played youth league basketball and varsity water polo in high school. I’ve been going down mountains on a snowboard and going up them by foot as long as I can remember. I try to camp at least twice year and I go to the beach almost every week. I love the outdoors. During Covid, I was a member of the startup team for an online creative network aspiring to connect student filmmakers from around the world. I’ve volunteered locally and internationally, producing promotional videos for schools in Orange County and non-profit organizations in Spain. In addition to the personal and graduate projects, I’ve been lucky to work on-set for professional projects such as “Unstuffed: A Build-A-Bear Story” and “Glisten and the Merry Mission” with Foundation Media Partners.
